웃프다 (utpeuda) — Funny and sad at the same time.

What 웃프다 means
When an awkward setback is absurd enough to laugh about, but still hurts, 웃프다 fits the mixed emotion. It blends 웃기다 and 슬프다. The situation and tone help determine how natural the expression sounds.
A short conversation
A: 휴가 첫날부터 비가 와.
B: 계획 다 짰는데 웃프다.
A: It is raining on the first day of vacation.
B: After all that planning—that is funny and sad.
Use it with care
It often expresses self-deprecating humor. Avoid laughing at another person’s serious loss and calling it 웃프다 without knowing how they feel.
A neutral or polite alternative: 웃기면서도 슬퍼요. — It is funny and sad at once.

Does 웃프다 mean purely happy laughter?
Answer: No. Sadness remains part of it. Read the Korean exchange aloud, then replace one detail with something from your own life.
