Planning a meeting

A: 언제 만나요? — When shall we meet?
B: 토요일에 만나요. — Let’s meet on Saturday.
A: 어디에 가요? — Where are we going?
B: 도서관에 가요. — We’re going to the library.

A time is not an action location

주말에 운동해요 means “I exercise on the weekend.” 주말 is a time expression, so 에 is correct even though 운동해요 is an action. Compare 공원에서 운동해요: 공원 is the place where the exercise happens. Today, tomorrow, yesterday, and now are normally used without 에 in these patterns: 오늘 만나요, 내일 가요, 어제 왔어요, 지금 공부해요.

Practice in context

Choose 에 or 에서: ① 일요일___ 쉬어요. ② 집___ 쉬어요. ③ 학교___ 가요.

Answers and explanation

① 에: Sunday is a time. ② 에서: home is where resting happens. ③ 에: school is the destination. For this exercise, focus on the role of the noun before the particle.
