Shadow at a comfortable pace
Shadowing means speaking just behind the recording. Start with one short line; the aim is clear rhythm, not racing through the entire video.
Try it step by step
First listen without speaking. Next, repeat after pausing. Finally, play the line and speak a little behind the voice. Keep the volume low enough to hear your own pronunciation.
Check your progress
Compare one recorded attempt with the model. Choose a single improvement, such as a missing syllable or an extra pause, and try again.
Practice rhythm before speed
The following is an original practice example for the skill above. It is separate from the chapter recordings and is not a transcript.
Use 저는 / 아침에 / 커피를 마셔요: “I drink coffee in the morning.” Read each group at a comfortable pace. Join 아침에 to the final group without a long break. Listen for 마셔요 as a complete ending rather than dropping 요 when you speed up.

Compare these practice breaks: A. 저는 / 아침에 / 커피를 마셔요. B. 저는 아 / 침에 커피 / 를 마셔요. Which is the better guide for a beginner?
Model answers and why they work
A keeps the time expression 아침에 and the object 커피를 together. B cuts inside 아침 and separates 커피 from its particle. The slashes are temporary reading guides, not compulsory pauses in natural speech.
Have a partner read A once, repeat after them, and then try speaking a little behind them. If you are alone, record a slow, clear reading and use it for timing practice; use the chapter recording as your pronunciation model. Return to pause-and-repeat practice if speaking along makes you omit words.
