Select two sentences you can understand and focus on their endings. Read the matching text, if available, to check what you heard.
Try it step by step
Copy the sentences accurately and underline the endings. Explain their meanings in your own language. Do not change a tense or ending merely because another form is familiar.
Check your progress
Read both sentences aloud, then cover them and recall them. Check the endings against the recording. Keep a note of one form to review in your textbook.
Notice present, past, and future
The following is an original practice example for the skill above. It is separate from the chapter recordings and is not a transcript.
Compare three practice sentences: 오늘 공부해요 — “I study today”; 어제 공부했어요 — “I studied yesterday”; 내일 공부할 거예요 — “I’m going to study tomorrow.” The time word helps, but the ending also carries information.
Try the example yourself
Choose a suitable ending: ① 어제 한국어를 (공부했어요 / 공부할 거예요). ② 내일 도서관에 (갔어요 / 갈 거예요). ③ 지금 물을 (마셔요 / 마셨어요). Treat each as a simple statement about the time shown.
Model answers and why they work
① 공부했어요, because the study happened yesterday. ② 갈 거예요, for tomorrow’s plan. ③ 마셔요, for drinking now in this beginner exercise. Read the entire sentence instead of memorizing only the correct option.
Now use one activity to say what you did yesterday and what you plan to do tomorrow. For example, 어제 운동했어요. 내일 운동할 거예요. Do not change a recording’s tense while repeating it; make your own version in a separate round.
