Match questions with replies
Listen to a short exchange and identify where one speaker finishes and the other begins. Notice whether a line asks for information or supplies it.
Try it step by step
Pause after a question. Try to recall the reply before pressing play. On the next round, read or listen to the reply first and recall the question.
Check your progress
Practice with a partner: one person asks, the other replies, then swap roles. Without a partner, leave a pause in your own recording for the other role.
Answer the information word
The following is an original practice example for the skill above. It is separate from the chapter recordings and is not a transcript.
어디 means “where,” 뭐 means “what,” and 누구 means “who.” Before answering, identify the kind of information the question requests. 어디에 가요? asks about a destination, while 뭐 먹어요? asks about food in this context.
Try the example yourself
Match the questions and replies: ① 어디에 가요? ② 뭐 먹어요? ③ 누가 와요? Replies: A. 친구가 와요. B. 학교에 가요. C. 빵을 먹어요.
Model answers and why they work
① B: I go to school. ② C: I eat bread. ③ A: A friend is coming. 학교 answers where, 빵 answers what, and 친구 answers who. A grammatically correct sentence can still be an unsuitable reply if it answers a different question.
Cover the replies and answer again with a new detail: 집 (home), 밥 (a meal), or 선생님 (teacher). Possible replies are 집에 가요, 밥을 먹어요, and 선생님이 와요. Keep the question fixed for one round, then swap roles.
